Our Story
In  February 2003, Alex Jr. Kamusoko  complained of  a stomachache. We discovered the  reason  for  the  stomachache was  because  his  stomach  was  hard  and  solid. We  rushed  him  to  Eggleston  Children's Hospital, and  a large mass was  noticed  by  the  Er  doctor. A biospy  report  confirmed that  Alex Jr. had a rare  but  deadly  type  of  cancer, called  Desmoplastic-round  small  cell  tumor. After  numerous  rounds  of  chemotheraphy and radiation, a final  attempt  to remove  the  tumor  was  made. It  was unsuccessful because the  tumor was surrounded  by  vital nerves. The  doctors deemed the  operation  too risky to  continue. Alex Jr. Kamusoko lost his  battle in May 2005.
Hence, in March 2006 the  Alex Jr. Cancer Foundation  was  established. Our  greatest desire is to  discover a cure  for this  rare  form  of cancer. We  also  want  to  raise  awareness in the  community,  especially among minority  families, with young  children diagnosed  with cancer.
